Politics is more than a game. It’s a serious business. Election for political office is a very complex, highly technical, logistically intensive, and hugely expensive undertaking with very serious legal and political implications. Considering the huge population, large delimitation (polling unit) system, hostile and challenging electoral environment, huge, numerous and diverse information requirements, intensive resource requirements, etc. in this jurisdiction, the traditional manual processes for the management of elections are not efficient and effective to manage these inputs required for this complex enterprise. The human factor introduces increased inefficiency, error, and fraud
Information is the most valuable resource of any political entity in elections and its effective and efficient utilization is critical for successful planning and operations. Consequently, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is being increasingly deployed to exponentially maximize the positive impact of the efficient management of information in elections management. Furthermore, elections management service delivery is optimum only when it is locality or community-based. This is because politics and communities’ needs and concerns are local. Therefore, planning and operations must be done from a bottom-up approach. It is for this reason that Geographic Information System (GIS) technology has become a standard tool in elections management to inform decision making and electoral operations processes based on spatial or “locational” analysis. This is why we make use of data/information management coupled with ICT and GIS implementations to inform decision-making in planning and operations and to support field services for the successful participation of our clients.
